Through regular private lessons and numerous special group events, students of all ages at McLelland Piano Studio receive specialized training in piano, theory and technic, sight-reading, ear-training, performance skills, introductory composition and improvisation, music history, and much more. 

PRIVATE LESSONS:
The private lesson format allows the teacher to concentrate on specific musical and personal needs, providing opportunities for individualized advancement. Goals and objectives are carefully developed for each student based upon age, ability, and interests.  Students can choose from a 45-minute or 60-minute private lesson.







MUSIC REPERTOIRE:
A wide selection of repertoire is carefully selected to match the needs and strengths of each student.  Encounter the wonders of the Classics through the music of such great composers as Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Gershwin, Joplin, and Brahms, as well as the music of our time through jazz, blues, pop, and improvisation.

FACILITIES: 
The primary studio in Hoover, Alabama, overlooks a beautiful lake and is very convenient to shopping, Galleria and Patton Creek Malls, Walmart, and I-459 and I-65 access. 

A satellite studio is located in Birmingham on Highland Avenue, near St. Vincent's Hospital.

Students can enjoy their learning experience in a well-equipped studio featuring:
*Concert Grand and Upright
Pianos and Keyboards
*Computer Lab with a large selection of music software
*Audio and Video Listening Stations
*Reference library of DVD's and videos of famous pianists, composers, and the
Internationally Renowned Taubman and Golandsky Videos/DVD's





*Camcorder/T.V. for self-viewing and development of a healthy technic
*Large selection of teaching aides and music games, felt & dry erase boards, rhythm instruments, metronomes
*Reference library featuring numerous periodicals, texts and The New Groves Dictionary of Music





COMPUTER LAB:
A computer and music lab is available for self-study immediately prior to or following each private lesson. Choose from such educational software as Music Ace, Alfred, Practical Theory,  Music Time, Music Flashcards,
Sibelius, and more.  Or choose from other self-study programs of written theory exercises, audio/video listening station, reading station and reference library, or self-practice in the keyboard lab.


SPECIAL GROUP EVENTS, CAMPS and PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES:
Receive encouragement and develop strong performance and listening skills through the regular group events and camps.  Numerous performance opportunities are available, as well as fun camps and parties which provide a stress-free environment to perform with and for their peers and receive valuable reinforcement of concepts introduced in the private lessons.  Enjoy performing with others in ensemble settings such as piano duets and duos, concerto and collaborative work.  Younger students have fun learning the fundamentals with such games as Musopoly, Music Bingo, Music  Twister utilizing our studio's numerous educational aides such as the staff and felt boards, giant floor keyboard, keyboard lab, and more.
