Saturday, November 14, 2009: Hymn Festival (Location = IPC) (individual audition times tba - between 9 AM- 12 PM. The festival is for students of all ages and levels and involves the following: private audition for guest adjudicator involving performance of 1 hymn and 1 carol plus sight-reading category on grand piano, immediately followed by a non-competitive mini-instructional session on the pipe organ.) ENTRY FEE IS INCLUDED IN STUDIO REGISTRATION

(Part 1 of the Opus One Aberg Studio Festival -- categories of technic and written theory)
There is a different schedule for this week! Sign-up for your session time online at Communication Page (once the dates are posted .... closer to time. (You will be notified via e-mail once it is time to sign-up). Students will be afforded valuable feedback from an expert Taubman teacher outside of the Alabama area. AGENDA: Students will be videotaped (in a private session) as they demonstrate several required aspects of technic (These requirements will be clearly specified in technic books and assignment notebook). Students will also complete a WRITTEN THEORY TEST. The videos will be posted online and a GUEST TEACHER will view the videos and provide written evaluations on each student's form and technic. The written evaluations will be available later in January - date TBA - once the adjudicator has had a chance to view all the videos.Additionally, one or more SCHOLARSHIP PRIZES may be awarded to a promising student who has most successfully applied the information regarding technic (our "C Code Challenge) presented during our weekly lessons. (amount of free lessons to be determined based upon results). The scholarships would apply to the Summer Quarter.

SCHEDULE: Students of all ages and levels complete the remaining 3 categories of: Performance; Sight-Reading; Keyboard
Theory (The Technic and Written Theory Categories were completed in January).
The Performance Category is VideoTaped. A professional, guest adjudicator will review the videos and provide a written evaluation plus a rating. The teacher will provide the ratings for Sight-Reading and Keyboard Theory the remaining 2 categories. Trophy Awards presented once 10 points have been earned. SIGN-UP FOR YOUR SUMMER LESSON DAYS/TIMES FOR WEEKS 5-8 OF SUMMER QUARTER ONLINE. You need to sign-up for 4 lessons (Weeks 5-8 of Summer Quarter) over a choice of 6+ different weeks. Since there are so many weeks available to choose from, please try to spread these lessons out over different weeks. If it is absolutely necessary, (due to being out of town all summer etc.) to schedule 2 or more lessons on one week, (or schedule 2 long lessons on 2 different weeks etc.), this is a possibility but not as ideal as scheduling 4 lessons on 4 different weeks.
