Summer months are an ideal time to
start piano lessons because there are
no other school pressures or time
constraints. Lessons and practice can be
scheduled in a relaxing and pleasurable way. Private lessons are conveniently scheduled during morning, afternoon, or evening hours.
Parents of students enrolled in our summer courses will be less likely to hear that dreaded summer whine, "What can I do now? I'm bored?" Summer piano students also enjoy participating in numerous special projects not always available during the academic school year such as composing an original piece of music, developing improvisation skills, choosing alternate styles of music such as jazz, pop, or sacred, or experiencing the joy of collaborating with other musicians -- violinists, vocalists, or other instrumentalists -- in the camp rehearsals and concerts. Finally, piano playing is a great way to encourage children to entertain themselves within the home, without turning to television or other passive activities. The creative mind remains active and challenged throughout the summer and allows for an easier transition back to school in the Fall. For those busy students involved in many summer activities it is possible to adjust the summer schedule to accommodate these summer activities. Piano Encounters
Piano Encounters is a
wonderful opportunity
for students of all ages
to receive an introduction
to piano. Courses vary,
dependent upon each
student's individual goals
and objectives. Private
and small-group (limit 5)
classes are available, and a unique course of study/wide range of repertoire is chosen for each student. The 4-week Piano Encounters Course provides a perfect "jump start" for beginning and transfer students interested in enrolling in our fall program. A student interview and consultation with teacher+parent(s)+ student is required prior to acceptance in any studio program.
